For Pinot noir, I love the stylistic diversity I am able to achieve from sourcing grapes from two very different, equally exceptional growing districts. From my Estate Vineyard, Fiddlestix in the Sta. Rita Hills, I craft “728”, “Lollapalooza” and “Doyle”, and from the Chehalem Mountains in Oregon emerge my “Oldsville Reserve” and “Alloro” wines. Fiddlestix wines sing to satisfy the palate. They are layered, persistent and have spice to grow on. Doyle is made in only occasional vintages and represents a single barrel that is a stand alone rock star. We own the trademark in wine for the word Lollapalooza…it means the best of its kind. And this bottling isolates the small group of barrels that, when married together, are particularly supple and delicious. The “728” bottling is all about “the place”. It is the mile marker of Fiddlestix Vineyard on Santa Rosa Road and this wine captures the essence of our position, which happens to be nothing less than spectacular, in this picturesque winding little valley with its unique east-west orientation.
