LA PURISIMA MISSION STATE HISTORIC PARK 2295 Purisima Road , Lompoc , CA 93436

Founded in 1787, the La Purisima Mission land holdings once covered nearly 470 square miles. Bordered by the Santa Maria River in the North and the Gaviota coastline in the South, the land was home to the Chumash people and Spanish settlers. The mission was best known for its hides and blankets, and at its peak inhabitants herded as many as 24,000 cattle and sheep.

MURALS OF LOMPOC
Inspired by a trip to British Columbia, Gene and Judy Stevens started the murals over 30 years ago. Lompoc has close to 30 major commissioned murals in its inventory. They all depict a part of Lompoc’s history and are located primarily in the old downtown area.

LOMPOC MUSEUM
​ Established in 1969, the Lompoc Museum exhibits document the archeology and history of the Lompoc Valley and Santa Barbara County. The Museum was established in Lompoc’s former Carnegie Library to display the Clarence Ruth Collection of Chumash and other Native American artifacts.

​​ARTESIA SCHOOL MUSEUM
​The Artesia School Museum is a fully restored and furnished one-room country schoolhouse. Built in 1876, Artesia was the first country school in the Lompoc Valley. It remained in constant use until 1961. A City and County Landmark, Artesia is open to the public the fourth Saturday of every month from 2 - 4 pm. More info http://www.lompocmuseum.org/artesia.php
STONE PINE HALL​
​Located immediately adjacent to the main Lompoc Museum building, Stone Pine Hall is used for Museum programs, including lectures, live performances, and receptions. The 1925 structure was built by the Lompoc chapter of the First Church of Christ, Scientist. More info
