Pinot
Noir is all about place – it expresses itself
in so many different ways that speak to “terroir”.
One of those special Pinot Noir places on the planet
is Oregon’s Willamette Valley, where the wines
evoke nuances that are intriguing, enchanting and definitely
world class. For over 15 years now, we have worked closely
with our grower partners in Oregon to custom farm each
Fiddlehead block of Pinot Noir to our specifications.
At harvest, Kathy personally supervises the pick from
each vineyard to ensure selection of only the best.
You can learn more about our Willamette Valley Vineyards
in the Vines section.
Kathy believes that each Oregon property
contributes an important component to the greater cuvee
we call Oldsville Reserve, named after the
place in Oregon on Oldsville Road where Kathy made this
wine. We continue to use this tribute name, even though
starting with vintage 2003 the grapes are very successfully
transported via overnight refrigerated truck from Oregon
to our custom built winery in Lompoc, CA.
Occasionally, there are those very
special years when the fruit from a particular vineyard
expresses stand-alone, stand-out personality. In these
vintages, we additional produce a vineyard designated
wine.
